About Us

These dolls were made for Liz by her daughter, Melanie.
We started Natural Grandma's in 1998. We are long-time friends - Carol Ortega and Liz Rogers. We decided to try to market some of the
products that Carol’s prolific gardening produced. Carol is an advanced master
gardener who loves herbs and flowers. Liz’s background is in marketing and we are both former teachers. Together we are dynamite - or at least explosive!
We first started doing workshops with dried flowers making wreaths and other decorative items. But we also loved bath oils and potpourris and other things that smelled good and looked pretty. The more we learned about the therapeutic effect of herbs and flowers the more we became fascinated with developing products that would both help de-stress a person’s life while providing beneficial effects on the skin and body. All of our products have been tested on our own bodies and the bodies of family and friends. Once we are satisfied with the results these new products are introduced into our product line.
Some of the recipes that we use for our products are ones that have been used in our families for generations, like the body crème used by Carol’s mother to heal her hands after she worked all day making pots. She was a Master Potter and taught pottery at Weber State College (now Weber State University). Our body crème is named after her - Crescent’s Body Crème. Others have been designed by Liz and Carol using ingredients that our mothers and grandmothers have used and loved.
We use carrier oils that are natural plant oils like almond oil, sunflower oil and grape seed oil. We add no preservatives to our products with the exception of Vitamin E, which is a natural preservative and a natural sun screen. Vitamin E is added to some, but not all of our products. We use essential and fragrance oils to scent most of our products. We add flavored oils to our lip balm.

If you are curious about all the flower pictures through-out the website, they have all been taken by Liz. Some of the pictures were taken of Carol's garden, others were taken whenever Liz saw flowers that caught her attention. Check back often to see all the beautiful blooms!
